Getting Started

How do I get started with WalnutsHR?+
Sign up for a 30-day free trial, name your company workspace, and start adding employees. The entire setup takes under two minutes — no credit card required.
Is there a free trial?+
Yes — every new account starts with a 30-day Pro trial. Every feature is unlocked, and no credit card is required up front. Add a card before day 30 to keep going on Pro, or export your data and pause.
How do I invite my team?+
From your admin dashboard, go to Settings and send invite links via email. Each team member joins with the appropriate role (Admin, Manager, or Employee) and sees only what they're authorized to access.

Pricing & Billing

How much does the Pro plan cost?+
The Pro plan costs $10 CAD per employee per month. per employee/month, billed monthly in CAD. You only pay for active employees in your organization.
Is there a minimum number of seats on Pro?+
Yes — Pro is billed for a minimum of 5 seats once paid billing starts. Smaller teams are still welcome on Pro, but the floor means very small teams pay for 5 even if they have 3 active employees.
Can I change plans?+
Yes. During your trial, you can add a card and start your Pro subscription anytime. If you need Enterprise features (SSO, custom contracts, dedicated support), contact our sales team.
Do you offer annual billing?+
Yes — save 25% with annual billing. Toggle Annual on the pricing page or contact our sales team for details.
What currency am I billed in?+
All pricing is displayed and billed in CAD (CAD).

Features

What features are included in the trial?+
Every Pro feature — directory, time off, documents, org chart, reporting, exports, and priority email support — is unlocked for the full 30 days.
Does WalnutsHR support document storage?+
Yes, document storage is available on the Pro plan and above. You can upload contracts, IDs, payslips, and other HR documents with secure, role-based access control.
Does WalnutsHR handle payroll?+
Canadian payroll is on our 2026 roadmap — built natively, not retrofitted from a US product. In the meantime, WalnutsHR runs alongside your current payroll provider. WalnutsHR runs alongside your current payroll provider while we finish native Canadian payroll. Join the waitlist at /payroll-waitlist to be first when it ships in 2026.
Does WalnutsHR have an org chart?+
Yes! The Pro plan includes a visual org chart that's automatically generated from your team hierarchy. It always reflects your real team structure.

Security & Privacy

How is my data protected?+
WalnutsHR uses organization-scoped database controls, role-based access, encryption in transit and at rest, and audit logs for important HR actions. We summarize the technical details on our Security page.
Where is my data stored?+
Primary database region: Canadian region. For details about sub-processors and cross-border processing, see our Privacy Policy and Security page.
Do you support SSO / SAML?+
SSO and SAML integration are available on our Enterprise plan. We use Clerk for authentication, which supports a wide range of identity providers.
Can I export or delete my data?+
Yes. You can export your data at any time. If you close your account, we keep it for a limited backup and recovery window, then delete it according to our retention process.

Support

How can I get help?+
All trial users can reach us by email. Pro plan customers get priority email support. Enterprise customers receive a dedicated support contact with SLA terms negotiated in their Enterprise agreement.
Do you offer onboarding assistance?+
WalnutsHR is designed to be self-service and easy to set up. However, Enterprise customers receive personalized onboarding and training sessions.
