Why we built this
We needed HR software for a growing Canadian team. Every option we found was built for the US market — no Canadian-region option for the primary database, no CRA payroll, and pricing in USD.
We spent weeks evaluating tools and couldn't find one whose primary database lived in a Canadian region by default and whose payroll engine spoke T4 and CRA. The answer was basically: none of them.
So we built WalnutsHR — purpose-built for the Canadian market with provincial employment standards, Canadian-region primary storage, cross-border processing is disclosed, and pricing in CAD. Native Canadian payroll is on our 2026 roadmap; until it ships, WalnutsHR runs alongside your current payroll provider.
