Manage your preferences

This Cookie Policy explains how WalnutsHR Inc. ("WalnutsHR," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies when you visit our website at walnutshr.com and our application at app.walnutshr.com.

We treat non-essential marketing-site analytics as opt-in. PostHog and Vercel Web Analytics / Speed Insights do not load on the marketing site until you accept them via the cookie banner, in line with Canadian privacy expectations (PIPEDA and provincial statutes) and EU/UK ePrivacy rules. In employer-managed app workspaces, product usage analytics may be enabled by your employer or otherwise processed as described in our Privacy Policy.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, web beacons, and security challenge tokens. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, remember preferences, protect services from abuse, and provide information to site owners.

2. Types of Cookies We Use

Strictly Necessary Cookies and Storage

These cookies and storage entries are essential for the website or application to function properly. They enable core features such as security, session management, localization, and accessibility. You cannot opt out of these technologies where they are required to provide the Service.

  • Session cookies: Maintain your session while browsing or using the app
  • Security cookies and checks: Help detect and prevent security threats, including bot checks such as Cloudflare Turnstile on signup and sign-in forms
  • Localization cookies: Remember country and language routing preferences
  • Consent storage: Remember your accept or decline choice in local storage

Analytics Cookies (opt-in)

These cookies and similar technologies help us understand how visitors interact with our website and product. On the marketing site, they only load after you accept the cookie banner. Decline and our marketing site will not mount PostHog or Vercel Web Analytics / Speed Insights. The analytics services we use:

  • PostHog: Product analytics, session events, heatmaps, performance (Core Web Vitals), and feature flags. Where enabled, it sets a first-party cookie on .walnutshr.com so we can connect your journey from the marketing site to the signed-in product for funnel analysis. In employer-managed app workspaces, product analytics may be enabled by the employer or otherwise processed as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights: Aggregated, privacy-preserving page-view counts and performance measurement. These optional analytics scripts are separate from ordinary Vercel hosting, CDN, serverless, and request-log processing needed to serve the site.

We do not use cookies for advertising retargeting or sharing with third-party ad networks.

Functional Cookies

These cookies and local storage entries enable enhanced functionality such as remembering your theme preference (light/dark mode), language and country settings, reading preferences, and dismissed announcements.

Marketing Cookies

We do not currently run a marketing-cookie category (no retargeting pixels, no ad-network trackers). If this changes, we will update this policy and re-prompt for consent.

3. Third-Party Cookies and Similar Technologies

Some cookies, storage entries, or similar technologies are placed by third-party services that appear on our pages or in the app:

  • Clerk: Authentication and session management (app only)
  • Cloudflare Turnstile: Bot detection and security challenge on signup and sign-in forms
  • Stripe: Payment processing (on checkout pages only)
  • PostHog: Product analytics and feature flags (opt-in, marketing and app)
  • Vercel: Hosting, CDN, serverless functions, request logs, and, after consent on the marketing site, Web Analytics and Speed Insights

Technologies provided by US-based providers may result in associated technical, security, or event data being processed in the United States. See Section 9 of our Privacy Policy for the cross-border safeguards we apply.

4. Managing Your Cookie Preferences

You can manage your cookie preferences in several ways:

  • Cookie banner: Use our cookie consent banner to accept or decline non-essential cookies.
  • Browser settings: Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies and clear local storage through settings.
  • Device settings: Mobile devices typically offer cookie and tracking controls in their privacy settings.

Please note that blocking certain cookies may affect your experience and limit functionality on our site.

5. Cookie and Storage Retention

  • Session cookies: Deleted when you close your browser
  • Persistent cookies: Retained according to the purpose of the cookie and the provider that sets it
  • Localization cookies: Retained for up to 12 months to remember country and language routing preferences
  • Consent storage: Retained in local storage until you reset your preference, clear browser storage, or use a different browser or device
  • Analytics data: Retained according to the analytics retention periods described in our Privacy Policy
